I have always loved hearts ...............as a shape; its perfect symmetry, the representation of our most vital part giving us life, a heart gives me a feeling of warmth and security, and I am inexplicably drawn to them.
My first heart memory was as an 8 year old living in Taumarunui, desperately wanting a heart shaped signet ring. I had to settle for my love of glo heart lollies instead – although I think perhaps that was the delicious cough medicine taste! I still love those too – a touch of nostalgia every time I indulge.
As I moved on through my life, a marriage proposal was delivered with a heart shaped diamond ring. My two precious children arrived and grew up with a love of shopping for heart shaped treasures for me on many celebrations - Birthdays, Christmas, Mothers Day, there really is a heart for every occasion! My home is dotted with a collection of special heart treasures created or bought by them.
With a broken heart I later found myself at a cross roads, I needed a new chapter in my life. The creation of Queen of Hearts came as a bolt one day as I wandered around Onehunga Basin, Auckland with my dog, Mina. It was a special friends birthday and I wrote a birthday message in the sand complete with a heart and it struck me – how totally in love I was with hearts, and the business idea was born that day. I got really excited about the thought of working with objects of art I was passionate about, so I bring to you all things hearts ......heart shaped ornaments, moments, keepsakes, anything hearts!
It has taken two years to work through life's tribulations, and find myself again, with much learning along the way (websites & social media for starters!). Now I am finally here! I have learnt to believe in myself, my own heart is happy again, and bigger and better than before. My eyes see hearts everywhere, we are surrounded by hearts, physically within us, those in our environment created by nature, and as symbol of the love we have for ourselves and each other.
Queen of Hearts would love to help you give those heartfelt feelings to others, for those you care about, - this is the most special thing for me – the spreading of love and warmth, and the ability to make people feel special. Together lets make our world a happier, more caring place!!
My dream is to spread the love and inspire others, as women we can do anything we set our mind to, it is never to late to start.
